Now with Alfas Quadrafoglio emblem

A joke present from my brother, as the mini is similar to how Topgear used to portray Alfa Romeos as deeply unreliable but fun.

Still waiting for the head to get rebuilt, it’s been one thing after another, first the valves in the head didnt match turbo specs, then they were bent, then the standard valve guides for the new properly specced Turbo valves are oversized and wont fit right. Turns out buying a rebuilt head on ebay for $1000 wouldve been faster and potentially cheaper.

I think people who actually share their major vehicle woes are a huge contribution to this forum, to make some of us feel better about their mild repairs and inconveniences.

Its informative hearing about the newer cars especially. A little ways back someone’s 3 series had a bad steering rack under recall, now I know not to even look at them when they hit 5k

Luckily, his rack was replaced under a TSB.

In the past month I’m out around $1400 for new motor mounts, a new CV axle (other one was previously replaced), and a new ball joint. Shop tells me my up per spring seat mounts on my struts are broken (a common issue with these Volvos), and that since they are original I probably should just replace shocks and struts all around to ref resh that stuff, but I’ll probably see about doing that myself in the spring. Figure that will be around another $1000, depending on what quality I go with, and whether I just do quick struts.
